Commission a Sculpture or Public Artwork
Steelworks Sculpture specialises in designing, fabricating and installing sculptures for artists, architects, developers, film & TV productions and private clients. Based in the Cotswolds and working across the UK and internationally, we can support you from first idea through to finished, installed work.
Who are our clients?
We work with clients at many different stages – from a rough sketch to a fully resolved digital model.
• Artists and galleries needing reliable fabrication for large-scale works or editions
• Architects and developers planning public art or Section 106 projects
• Film & TV art departments requiring specialist props and sculptural set pieces
• Public bodies and institutions commissioning permanent or temporary artworks
• Private clients looking for a figurative, abstract or site-specific sculpture
What You Can Commission
We handle a wide range of sculptural projects, from small editions to multi-part installations. Typical commissions include:
• Large-scale public artworks and landmark sculptures
• Integrated architectural pieces (façade elements, reliefs, signage, wayfinding)
• Figurative sculptures, portraits and memorials
• Abstract and conceptual works for galleries and private collections
• Film & TV props, hero objects and sculptural set pieces
• Editions, multiples and reproductions from existing works or maquettes
Our Four-Step Process
Step 1 – Initial Conversation
We start with a call or email to understand your brief, timescale and budget. You can share reference images, sketches, storyboards, CAD files or existing maquettes. At this stage we can also advise on feasibility and likely costs.
Step 2 – Design & Development
Depending on what you already have, we can help with concept development, maquettes, digital sculpting or technical drawings. We’ll agree materials, finishes and any engineering requirements, and produce a clear proposal so everyone knows what will be delivered.
Step 3 – Fabrication
Once designs are signed off, we move into fabrication. This can include traditional modelling, mouldmaking and casting, as well as digital tools such as 3D scanning, CNC machining and 3D printing. We keep you updated throughout with progress images and site visits where useful.
Step 4 – Installation & Aftercare
We can handle or support installation, working with your contractors, structural engineers and site teams as needed. We can also advise on maintenance requirements and long-term care for the work.
Budgets & Timelines
Every commission is different, but we aim to be clear and realistic about costs and timings from the start. After an initial conversation we can usually give you a budget range. Once the brief is fully defined, we’ll provide a detailed quotation and schedule.
We are based at Unit 6, Bond Industrial Estate, Wickhamford, in the Cotswolds, and regularly work on projects in London, the Midlands and across the UK , US and Europe.
